
What is Kratom?
Kratom (also known as Mitragyna speciosa ) s a tree that grows in the tropics and typically does not shed its leaves. It belongs to the Rubiaceae family (a coffee family) and is originally from Southeast Asia.
It can be found in Myanmar, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Cambodia, and Indonesia, where its leaves (called kratom) have been utilized in herbal medicine as early as the 1800s. In the past, they were also used in the form of tea, as well as chewed or smoked.
